I had tears with my 6 year old daughter this morning reading this book as part of her stage 5 reading program.I am appalled that a 6 year old mixed race child had to be exposed to the NAZI party, Hitler, and the patronizing statement that 'black people can do well at the Olympics.' From cover to cover it is an abomination with words like prejudice and Nazi in bold.The way it is written is from such an incredibly ignorant stereo-typical view point it beggars belief.It is NOT apt for a child of 5 or 6 to read. Mine is on level 5/6 and picked this book because she liked the picture on the front.Expanding a child's vocabulary to this insult of a book is not what is required at this stage.I had to explain to my daughter about Hitler, Nazism and slavery...Collins publishers should really know better than this. I am shocked and APPALLED.
